Who We Are

In 1983, three young enterprising Guyanese – John La Rose, Terrence Pariaug and Glen Khan, saw a need to reconnect West Indians who were living overseas, with their families and friends in their respective homelands in the Caribbean and Guyana. The Caribbean communities in the United States of America, Canada and the UK needed a reliable channel to send supplies, gifts and various other items to their families ‘back home’. Thus was born LAPARKAN which is an acronym from the last names of the three entrepreneurs. Laparkan opened its first office in Toronto, Canada in summer of 1983. The word quickly spread throughout the Caribbean Diaspora and soon there was a demand for offices in other locations. Through hard work and a focused approach, Laparkan quickly established offices in Guyana, New York, Miami and the United Kingdom. The response from the overseas communities was very positive and supportive and within six years, Laparkan had additional offices or agencies opened in Trinidad & Tobago, Jamaica and Barbados. By the early 90’s Laparkan fortified and consolidated its markets and planned another push into other Caribbean territories such as Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Surinam and St. Vincent to name a few. Chairman Profile

Laparkan Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Glen Khan is a Certified Accountant, entrepreneur and philanthropist whose vision and business acumen combined with his spirit of assisting the less fortunate places him among the most reputable and successful businesspersons in the English-speaking Caribbean and its Diaspora in the post colonial era.

Community

Laparkan is a company that is rooted in Community. We have an ongoing and active program of giving back to the community. On an ongoing basis, we support a variety of Community events, cultural, educational, religious and sporting activities and donate shipping services to many organizations in the Diaspora that are involved in charitable work for disadvantaged people ‘back home’. Within the Caribbean Basin and its Diaspora we give support to the priorities identified by the communities themselves. These include the preservation and promotion of Caribbean culture, the celebration of national and religious observances, empowerment of the underprivileged especially children and the development of human capital through education and training.

Laparkan is a well-established, full service Logistics Organization, providing services all around the world.  With over 28 years of experience, we offer exceptional services and an exciting work environment.  We are very proud to  employ a diverse group of individuals who bring a variety of skills and experiences to our Company.  We celebrate the diversity life has to offer, and our team is a terrific reflection of our Values in action.     Our North American operation employs over 200 individuals, and there are approximately 450 employees in our logistics operations throughout our network.  We continuously encourage our employees to learn and grow with us, and we respect their contribution to our common success.  We believe in giving back to the communities we serve, and make it a point to have fun at work.
